What is Silver Clay?

Metals Clay is a moulding clay made of metal powders and binders. When heated, the binders burn away, transforming the material into a solid piece of jewellery. Examples of metals that can be used include silver, gold and copper.

Where can I buy it?

To craft your silver jewellery, you'll want to look for a source that sells bulk silver metal clay. Art Silver Clay, provided by Bare Hands Bracelets, offers you premium, high-quality, pure silver clay, and it's easy to work with.

The Main Brands of Precious Metal Clay

The most popular clay brands are art Clay Silver and PMC. Both brands offer clay-like materials that are easy to mould and work like clay. Then they become solid pieces after you heat them in a kiln.

Why Choose Art Clay Silver

We want to ensure you have access to the best quality and finest materials available when working with us. That's why we work with only premium silver clay-type products from Art Clay Silver, ensuring you get the best quality and finest results.

Here are some of the reasons why you should choose Art Clay Silver for your jewellery craft:

Best Formula

The New Formula of Art Clay Silver has all the same benefits as previous formulas and is further enhanced to improve your artistry and ability to create:

  • Easy moulding from the Original formulas
  • Slow Dry benefits to prolong clay workability time (up to 4x)
  • Low Fire enhancement can also be torch fired to work with fires at lower temperatures.

Highest Purity

Art Clay Silver is created using a patented process that delivers 99.9% silver. This gives you superior quality and the purest, most refined form of silver available to match the pieces you create.

Lower Shrinkage than PMC

Art Clay Silver shrinks to 10% less than the PMC types due to differences in the clay binders and firing times. This makes it a good choice for larger designs.

Easy To Use

Art Clay burns at a low temperature for a short time. It is possible to kiln with a propane torch or on a gas stove top.

3. Mould the clay into your desired shape and form. You can also apply imprints or engravings.

4. Add any additional findings, stones, or other materials.

5. Kiln your piece at the desired temperature using a gas stove top or propane torch to burn away the binding compounds.

6. Let it cool and wear it!

The difference between Clay Type and Paste Type of Art Clay Silver

Clay Type

This type can be modelled the same way as regular water-based clay. It needs to be moist to retain its flexibility and workability after opening. If the clay begins to crack while you work, you can use water and a paintbrush to moisten it again.

Paste Type

The amount of water in the mixture is the only difference between the two types - Clay and Paste.

By default, Paste has the consistency of melted ice cream. You should only transfer the amount from the jar to a small tray and use water to make the thickness you desire.

It can be used in several ways:

  • As glue to join two pieces of dry or wet clay together.
  • As a gap-filler for pits and cracks that appear in dried pieces.
  • Attach silver findings (screw eyes, tailbacks, brooch findings, etc.) to dried or wet clay pieces.
  • During firing, the normal contraction of the clay bonds the findings.
  • When applied in separate layers onto organic forms such as leaves, dried flowers, paper-origami, etc., Paste type creates a perfect impression of the object.
